EAW Curtiss SB2C-3 Helldiver

This plane flew with VB18 on the USS Intrepid, June 1944. This model represents the second mark of the Helldiver used in combat by the US Navy. It was flown during strikes against Japanese surface units including their remaining carriers in the Sibuyan Sea and off North East Luzon. In particular, it participated in the missions that sank the super-battleship Musashi, October 1944 - returning to the Intrepid with AA damage.

I developed this model from the PAW Helldiver model. The skin is also my work. Just for fun, I incorporated Woolfman's technique of having an open canopy when the wheels are down. There are also new 3DZ files for distance view models, a new shadow, and the fuselage and tail are now non-mirroring too.

The cockpit is the original EAW stock P-47, re-painted to be more representative. It also has a new wing view to work with this model.

It is intended for use with Charles Gunst's ECAPanel, using the P47D slot. There isn't a specific Pacific campaign in which this plane is needed - - yet. But aircraft carriers are being developed for EAW as this is being written, so it is just a matter of time. In the meantime, any Pacific terrain set and some imagination will allow you to make us of this model.

As usual, a base PCX skin - sans unit markings - is included if you would like to add other markings. Please feel free to do so with my blessings.

To use just install the TPC and 3DZ files into your EAW folder.

Cheers,

Captain Kurt
